Schnapps is very common in the northern European area, typically schnapps is made from grain or potatoes. Many schnapps are made with various spices, cumin and herbs. But we're trying to put our own twist on it now that we have an orchard.
The first schnapps are porse schnapps and the green walnut schnapps. Both are matured in oak casks to give a more round snappy taste.
Our schnapps
Many people enjoy making their own Porse and Walnut schnapps. Ours differs greatly as our alcohol comes from Eau de Vie. Porse grows wild throughout West Jutland and we have the green walnuts in our walnut plantation, which is 7 ha.
Porse snaps is a Danish national spirit which is enjoyed everywhere and especially in the run up to Christmas. I think all Danes know the plant porse. Grows wild in ditches, on the heath in depressions where it is slightly damp. If you grew up with the scent of Porse, you will also love Porse schnapps.
The walnut schnapps, which is 40%, can almost be called a bitter. It still has notes from Eau de Vie, so the walnut flavor fits.
